Catania. Perfect union between food and culture.

Catania Old Town

Catania is a city that has several historical attractions, a UNESCO heritage, that can easily be visited walking through the alleys and squares of the old city. A walk that will also give the opportunity to taste some delights of Sicilian and Catanese culinary culture.

Visiting the Cathedral, a jewel of Sicilian baroque, you could visit the typical fish market, the “Piscarìa”, where you can taste the different local cheeses or the best fried fish, the best and freshest fish in the city.

You can continue visiting Via Crociferi, famous for its Baroque churches; and following the Via Etnea, Catania’s main street, you will arrive in Piazza Stesicoro, home of the Roman amphitheater. A stone’s throw from here you will find the Savia bar, where you can enjoy the best arancini in the city.

Crossing the entire “Fiera” – the name of the largest market in the city – you will arrive at one of the most famous and historic kiosks in Catania, where you can taste the typical Catania fizzy drink, based on Selz and syrups fresh.

Another inevitable stop is the port of Catania, where it is impossible not to taste the mixed meat dish or the grilled meatballs of pork or even the typical onion, onions wrapped in pancetta.

In the winter season it is recommended to savor a cannolo with ricotta.

During the summer the experience of a granita with brioche is truly unique!

All these splendid attractions, sea, nature, history, tradition, gastronomy, shopping, of Catania are very close to our holiday home. This is one of the reasons our guests love us.
